angesegt How - the text of Thomas about the bike ride tour of Kreuzberg: Vanished synagogues in Kreuzberg
As part of the traces of Jewish life in the rainbow factory, there was a cycle of 14 clock leadership under the theme "Lost Synagogues in Kreuzberg.
The tour lasts two and a half hours, had twelve participants and consisted of nine stations.
The first stop was at the Orange Square, the center of the city known as Luis. Here at the beginning there was the 20th Century Jewish life in a busy department stores, factories and apartments. The resident Jews came mainly from Eastern Europe.
We went to St. Moritz Square, where the family home value of Stralsund had a department store. The following stations were places where synagogues were: Dresden Street, Lime Street, Axel-Springer-Haus, in between a visit to the Jewish Museum, Old James Street, by the Knights Road (the so-called export-quarters) and finally to the Orthodox synagogue Kottbusser shore. The latter is still the way, and guarded by police.
Ute Our guide did a very good job. I found disturbing, however, two observations of participants. One said that the persecution of the Jews not Germany went out, but was planned internationally. Another added that the Jews were so persecuted in the Middle Ages.

On 9th September , the last day of the radar project, we were standing in the rainbow factory. With the founders and employees of the rainbow factory, we have been friends for years and we did many projects together. We have worked dozens of times in the factory, read, ate. We organized joint events - Readings, parties, concerts, exhibitions, cinema screenings. Therefore, as we were yesterday in the courtyard of the factory, so many memories came up, especially on countless German-Polish literature workshops we have held in the same court (and of course inside the house).
This time we were only guests at one of several initiatives that starts the rainbow factory, and carries out: Heritage Days . On 9 September 2007, it organized the factory under the motto: In the Footsteps of Jewish life in the neighborhood. There was an exhibition to 2 times and was a sightseeing bike tour organized in the neighborhood, which was attended by us Thomas. His Raport it comes in next post.
are now the last entries to our theme:
WHAT I THINK ABOUT POLAND?
first
A musician by 40 from Bavaria, in Berlin for several years.
I do not want to Poland, because in Poland the climate is continental.
know I was born in 1963 and Poland, the formative time of my life,
The radar project, I find the idea come from good, but the reaction to improvised ago.
second
A German teacher from Berlin. Was 1973 at the Baltic Sea and Krakow, and in 1991 in the Mazury
I think about Poland that the lack of German language skills and getting to know the contact very difficult.
Too bad, it's very close to Berlin.
why I have a lot of stereotypes in my head: Poland: the land of art and artists, relaxed atmosphere, more like the south,
I will probably get no more polish, you must have personal reasons for choosing to undergo the effort.
Katrin, a German woman from Berlin: Poland is remote and largely unknown. driven by 1994 and 1995, after Lithuania memories of the GDR to ecological and living conditions. I hope that comes from educational and cultural potential out again.
4th
A young German musician from Berlin
When I think of Poland, I think of green meadows and forests.
5.
a German from Berlin. War News in 2001 and 2007 Poland (Konin, Warsaw, Slubice)
are the official Polish - German relations are not so well - irritiernd are the official Polish reactions, for example, to articles in the German press - one has the feeling of a certain reactionary backwardness of Poland's official. Poland, with whom I have contact in Berlin, it is always very embarrassing to bring what the K brothers, as in politics and culture at the start. None of you seem to have chosen. Recently reported a Pole in the conversation, the premier K _Bruder is ultimately elected by a minority - because abstention is so great. Since the show can not choose cause much waste. I would like Poland to arrive in Europe, an official of a possible overcome inferiority complex. The many European countries have arrived in Poland - When will the Polish nomenclature?
6th
A German man from Berlin. Was three times in Poland, 1995, 1998 and 2003 - from the Baltic Sea, the Krakow and Wroclaw.
- I had before the first visit hardly knew anything about Poland. Except something about politics + history.
- although so close to Berlin is one of my favorite holiday is closer than Western Europe. My three visits were positive. Very nice people, beautiful landscapes + beautiful - vibrant cities.
have historically politically + I learned much from each trip. In big cities there were good museums + info about historical issues.
I will more often go to Poland.
7th
a German from Heidelberg, it was 2006 in Swinoujscie.
I found the landscape in Poland & beautiful people friendly. I also had years of a Polish colleague with whom I listened to music of Bregovic. My current Polish friend moved away recently, unfortunately the USA. Well, can I say more now.
8th
Niko, a German from Dusseldorf (now in Kreuzberg), university degree. War in February 2006 in Poland - 1 week near Karpach (skiing).
I think Poland is an important neighbor of Germany, a German far too many unknown land. In the German press last particularly differences between German and Polish policy emphasizes what is so far very annoying, as the move the prejudices and resentments to the forefront. You will get most of the German Poland at all.
initiatives such as yours, who emphasize the exchange and common ground, I think, therefore, very important and desirable ! Happy !
A few clichés :-)
- good beer
- good sausage
- difficult language
- challenging politicians
- beautiful landscapes
- Very Catholic
- hearty cuisine
- cheap craftsmen
9th
a German from Berlin (high school, currently ALG II), was on the Baltic coast at the turn of 1998/1999
Poland had very variable limits
many Catholics
I know not a typical Polish food and only a band whose name I do not think (folk music with reggae)
Polish
In Poland more question marks in my head than with some other neighbors, comparable to Luxembourg or Liechtenstein.
10th
A self-working German man from Berlin, was in Krakow and in the Mazury.
Poland for me is so close and yet so far. The language is definitely an obstacle for more frequent visits.
I spent very nice holidays stays, but also a bad experience. Actually, I know far too little about the country.
Hopefully you will now release the Kaczinskis!
11th
Mrs. Esther Goldstein, a psychoanalyst. She was in Gdansk and Warsaw.
I thank Poland, that Europe has berettet before the Ottomans.
I thank Poland that brought the Soviet bloc collapsed.
I love the Polish cuisine, while their sweet soup, sometimes it was too much brandy.
Poland I admire that they have managed to keep it on the Division also a Polish identity.
the anti-Semitism on Radio Maria I find horrible and is not worthy of Poland.
The twins did not deserve Poland. Foreign policy in the EU is too much by the trauma of Poland in the past, I can nchvollziehen.
I am glad that the Poles are my neighbors.
Esther Goldstein
An older German lady in elegant red suit, Karin Seiffert-Abuzied from Kreuzberg was our last contact. She had been to Poland.
My friend Regina Räthel learn Polish, it is Catholic religinslehrerin and gave me a lot about Poland. I was 22 years ago in Krakow, a beautiful city! European with great wit. Also in Gdansk, we have international air breathed. History is there first hand. Wroclaw is very fresh in my memory. On 19 April, I was at a demonstration (about 4,000 protesters) to treatment of temporary workers, of all women. The Poles are very active! Keep it up.
Karin Seiffert-Abuzied
